How to Remove News Feed from Windows Lock Screen?

If your Windows lock screen is cluttered with news feeds, weather updates, or random tips you didn’t ask for, don’t worry—we’ll help you clean it up. These dynamic features, like Windows Spotlight, are meant to be helpful but can often feel distracting.

Step 1. Disable Lock Screen Status

  1. Right-click your desktop and select Personalize from the menu.
  2. In the Lock Screen settings, change the Lock Screen Status drop-down to None.
  3. If updates still appear, proceed to disable Windows Spotlight.

Step 2. Turn Off Windows Spotlight

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings, then go to Personalization > Lock Screen.
  2. Under Personalize your lock screen, select Picture instead of Spotlight.

Step 3. Block “Fun Facts” and Tips

  1. Return to Personalization > Lock Screen (right-click desktop > Personalize).
  2. Toggle off Get fun facts, tips, and more.

Step 4. Remove the Lock Screen Entirely (Advanced)

For a nuclear option, use the Group Policy Editor to disable the lock screen feed updates.

Note: Windows Home users need to install the Group Policy Editor first.

  1. Type Edit group policy in the Start menu and open the app.
  2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization.
  3. Double-click Do not display the lock screen, select Enabled, then click Apply.

And that’s it! Whether you tweaked a few settings or removed the lock screen entirely, you should now enjoy a clean, distraction-free experience. No more surprise news or tips—just peace and quiet.
