AMD Announces Ryzen 7 5700X3D at $249 & New Ryzen 5000 GT Series Starting From $125
AM4 lives to see another day as AMD has just updated the platform with a bunch of new processors. These new offerings include a new X3D CPU, two CPUs from the new ‘GT‘ lineup and the Ryzen 7 5700. What’s better is that the Ryzen 7 5700X3D comes in at just $249, 200 dollars lower than what the Ryzen 7 5800X3D launched at.
AM4 Lives On: Ryzen 7 5700X3D & GT Series Unveiled
-Ryzen 7 5700X3D: 3D V-Cache Goodness at Just $249
Starting off with the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, this new processor makes use of 3D stacked cache atop its CCD. The CPU packs 8 cores / 16 threads, with a base and boost clock of 3GHz and 4.1GHz respectively. For context, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D has a base and boost clock of 3.4GHz and 4.5GHz, so expect to see a noticeable performance delta.
The CPU has a total of 100MB of cache and a TDP of 105W. If we go over the division of this cache, the 5700X3D gets 4MB of L2 Cache and 32MB of 2D L3 Cache alongside another 64MB thanks to a vertically stacked cache chiplet. The Ryzen 7 5700X3D will come in at $249, starting from the 31st of January.
In gaming, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D is up to 13% faster than Intel’s i5-13600K. Of course, the X3D CPU is being held back by its lower clocks, however, it still pushes near flagship levels of performance in games. This CPU will turn out to be a pretty neat pick for the sub $300 market.
-Ryzen 5 5700: Budget iGPU-less Cezanne
Next up is the Ryzen 7 5700, a $175 mainstream offering with 8 cores and 16 threads. Now importantly, this CPU is based on Cezanne, not Vermeer so the Ryzen 5 5700 will see no support for PCIe Gen 4.
Making matters worse, expect no Vega-based iGPU as well, despite all Cezanne products explicitly featuring one. On the contrary, it does have higher clocks than the Ryzen 7 5700X. AMD put the Ryzen 7 5700 against Intel’s i5-12400F, where the AMD CPU leads by up to 5%.
-Ryzen 5000 GT: Ryzen 5 5500 GT & Ryzen 5 5600 GT
Lastly, the new Ryzen 5000 GT series includes the Ryzen 5 5500 GT and 5600 GT, both with 6 cores / 12 threads. Unexpectedly, both CPUs use a Cezanne die but feature a Vega-based iGPU. The Ryzen 5 5600 GT boosts up to 4.6GHz and comes with a 7 CU Vega iGPU.
The Ryzen 5 5500 GT is 6-core CPU, and goes up to 4.4GHz, with a 6 CU Vega iGPU. The Ryzen 5 5600 GT and 5500 GT are priced at $140 and $125 respectively. In terms of performance, the Ryzen 5 5600 GT provides up to 10% higher gaming performance through the iGPU, and 11% higher performance in productivity against the Ryzen 5 5600.
The Ryzen 5 5500 GT on the contrary, is almost neck to neck against the Ryzen 5 5500, with a minuscule lead in gaming. Though, we see a notable uplift in WinRAR performance at 10%.
Release Date
All four Ryzen 5000 offerings will be avaialble from the 31st of January. These new products should pave way for existing AM4 users to upgrade their setup without breaking the bank. Moreover, this move diversifies AMD’s CPU portfolio, increasing the number of options for Team Red enthusiasts.
