Fix: OMEN Gaming Hub ‘Not Supported in This Region’ or Blank Screen Error
When attempting to launch OMEN Gaming Hub, the application may either fail to open or display a blank grey screen before closing unexpectedly without showing any clear error message. This issue arises because OMEN Gaming Hub depends on Microsoft Store services to validate your device’s license, hardware compatibility, and regional eligibility.
If any of these checks fail, key features such as performance controls, network optimization, and lighting customization become inaccessible, often triggering errors like “OMEN Hub not supported in this region.”
This problem is usually caused by incorrect region settings, a corrupted or outdated Microsoft Store cache, or licensing mismatches tied to your Microsoft account.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through each possible cause and provide step-by-step solutions to ensure OMEN Gaming Hub passes all validation checks and functions properly again.
1. Bypass Region Block
You can bypass the regional restriction in OMEN Gaming Hub by modifying the Windows host file. This method blocks certain domain requests from the app, allowing it to skip region checks and sign you in directly.
Note: Before proceeding, it’s strongly recommended to create a System Restore Point to safeguard your system in case anything goes wrong.
1.1 Add Commands to the Host File
- Navigate to the following directory:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
- Right-click the hosts file and choose Edit in Notepad.
- Scroll to the bottom of the file and add the following lines:
127.0.0.1 hpbp.io 127.0.0.1 api.hpbp.io 127.0.0.1 hpgamestream.com 127.0.0.1 content.hpgamestream.com
- Save the file and close the editor.
If Windows doesn’t allow you to save the file, you’ll need to take ownership permissions. Follow our complete guide on using the TAKEOWN command to take ownership of files and folders.
1.2 Reset OMEN Gaming Hub App Data
- Open the Start Menu and search for Installed Apps.
- Find OMEN Gaming Hub and click on Advanced Options from the three-dot menu.
- Scroll down and click Reset to clear all app-related data.
- Now try launching OMEN Gaming Hub again to see if the issue is resolved.
Note: After applying the host file changes, OMEN Gaming Hub will no longer be able to access online features.
2. Block Internet Access for OMEN Hub
You can prevent OMEN Gaming Hub from accessing the internet or detecting your location by setting up an outbound rule through Windows Defender Firewall. This method helps prevent the app from receiving region-restricted responses. Make sure to reset the app’s data before applying these firewall changes, and do not open the app until the steps are complete.
- First, reset the app’s data as shown in the previous section.
- Do not launch the app. Instead, search for Windows Defender Firewall in the Start Menu.
- From the left sidebar, click on Outbound Rules to view the list of programs using internet connections.
- Locate OMEN Gaming Hub in the list, then click Properties from the right panel.
- In the General tab, select Block the connection under the Action section.
- Click Apply to save your settings and close the window.
- Now open OMEN Gaming Hub and verify if the issue is resolved.
If the problem persists and you’re still stuck on the “unsupported region” screen, it’s best to contact HP Support directly and provide a detailed description of your issue for further assistance.
