Intel 14th Generation ‘Raptor Lake Refresh’ CPUs 15% More Expensive Than the 13th Generation
Twitter user momomo_us has leaked the pricing for Intel’s upcoming 14th Generation Core CPUs. All CPUs see an up-to 15% hike in prices as compared to the 13th Generation. It is pertinent to mention that the 14th Generation does not feature any architectural improvements. Expect most of the performance boost from higher clock speeds and more cores, on select models.
Intel 14th Generation Pricing Leaked
The leak mentions all the K-series SKUs which are to be unveiled next month. As is tradition, Intel will unveil the K-series processors first, followed by the non-K budget CPUs. The the budget 14th Generaton CPUs may launch at CES 2024.
The kingpin i9-14900K will cost users $695, 15% more than the i9-13900K. The i7-14700K, on the other hand is priced at $485, however, this CPU has some actual core-count uplifts as compared to the rest of the series. The i5-14600K will be $50 more expensive, almost breaching the $400 price point.
The i5-14600K retains a core count similar to the i5-13600K, although with a 200MHz higher P-core clock speed. The E-cores can also boost up to 4GHz, which is 100MHz higher than what the 13600K offers.
- i5-14600K: +200Mhz P-Core Frequency | +100MHz E-Core Frequency | +$50 More Expensive
The 20-core i7-14700K on the other hand has already been seen in the battlefield before so we will only confirm the clock speeds. Yet again, we see a 200MHz increase in the clock frequency for the P-cores with the E-cores being 100MHz faster much like the 14600K.
- i7-14700K: +4 E-Cores | +200MHz P-Core Frequency | +100MHz E-Core Frequency | +$60 More Expensive
Last, but not least, the i9-14900K only sees a slight bump in the clock speeds which now hit the 6GHz barrier. This is not different from the i9-13900KS, apart from the E-cores which also boost 100MHz higher.
- i9-14900K: +200MHz P-Core Frequency | +100MHz E-Core Frequency | +$95 More Expensive
Is it Worth Upgrading?
Since Raptor Lake Refresh does not offer any significant specification improvements, expect the performance delta to be minimal. We should still wait for Intel’s announcement, in-case of any last minute surprises.
