Intel ’20-Core’ i7-14700K Overclocked to 6.3GHz

The Intel i4-14700K has been overclocked to 6.3GHz, at least on the BIOS level. Wxnod shared a BIOS (Technically UEFI) image showcasing the i7-14700K in action. Here, we can see the CPU running at an extremely fast 6.3GHz.

i7-14700K Running at 6.3GHz

The i7-14700K is equipped with the MSI MPG Z690 EDGE TI WiFi DDR4 motherboard. The BIOS version ‘E7D31IMS.AD0‘ supports the latest 14th Generation CPUs and is used on this motherboard. The BIOS is only DDR4-capable, so expect lower performance as compared to DDR5.

The CPU is running at 6.3GHz with a voltage of 1.384V. While not concerning, the voltage is on the higher side of things so you will need some beefy cooling. Since the OC is done at the BIOS level, we cannot comment on the real-world stability.

The i7-14700K boasts 20 Cores (8P+12E), 4 more than the i7-13700K. The base and boost clock speeds stand at 3.4GHz and 5.6GHz respectively. This is a nice 200MHz uplift in contrast to its Raptor Lake counterpart. Furthermore, the cache also sees a 10% increase.

Release Date

Intel will host an Innovation Event next month, where it is expected to reveal the 14th Generation CPUs (Unlocked). The launch date is expected to fall somewhere in October, but that’s just a rumor. Alongside that, we should also see some details regarding Meteor Lake as highlighted by a previous leak.

The following SKUs will be unveiled by Intel next month:

  • i9-14900K
  • i7-14700K
  • i5-14600K
