Intel i5-13400 Benchmarked, Faster Than AMD’s Ryzen 5 7600X

Intel’s Raptor Lake based non-K/F CPUs will arrive later this year or possibly during CES 2023. Apart from the K series, all other Raptor Lake CPUs are merely an Alder Lake refresh. Although that will sound slightly disappointing, expect a significant generation on generation improvement. Similarly, HXL has leaked the performance benchmarks of team blue’s budget-oriented i5-13400.

The Benchmark

HXL on Twitter shared a picture showcasing the i5-13400 in CPU-Z. Currently, we do not have much information about the test bench being used. The CPU clocks in around 4.6GHz and features 29.5MB (20MB L3 + 9.5MB L2) of cache. 

As for the performance, the i5-13400 manages to score 729.3 points and 6591.5 points in the single and multi core test respectively. That’s a very respectable score for a CPU in its early state. For some reference, see the following charts;

Intel’s budget i5-13400 does lose out to the i5-12600K. Although, the final sample is expected to show better results.

In multi-core workloads, the higher core/thread count shows its true colors. This CPU beats the 7600X by almost 6%. That’s extremely impressive for what appears to be Intel’s lowest end offering in the i5 lineup.

The i5-13400

Intel’s upcoming i5-13400 will ship with 10 (6P+4E) cores and 16 threads. That along with a possible sub $200 price tag will surely appeal to budget gamers. In addition, we see 29.5MB of total cache (20MB L3 + 9.5MB L2) along with a base clock of 2.5GHz. These clocks can go as high as 4.6GHz and all of this performance comes with a 65W TDP.
