GALAX Reportedly Designing An RTX 4090 With Dual 16-Pin Connectors For Extreme Overclocking

NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 introduced the use of the 12VHPWR (12+4 Pin), PCIe Gen 5 power connector. GALAX taking things a step further, is reportedly designing an RTX 4090 with two 16-pin connectors. This on-paper amounts up to a whopping 1200W of power (600Wx2).

The First Dual 16-Pin Lovelace GPU

Bl4ckdot shared a few pictures on Twitter showcasing the reference design for GALAX’s upcoming RTX 4090. Videocardz mentions that the GPU we are currently looking at belongs to GALAX’s HOF (Hall Of Fame) lineup. From the picture, we can see a 28+4+4 (36) VRM design. In addition, a few voltage measurement points are also present allowing overclockers to take real-time readings.

Being a really high end product, it also comes with a BIOS button enabling enthusiasts to switch back and forth between the LN2 and stock BIOS. A white finish really does add to its beauty aesthetic wise, though we still require a full shroud for the final verdict.

GALAX is probably just testing this GPU for now as we have no release date.

RTX 4090

The RTX 4090 is powered by the AD102 GPU, which is unparalleled in terms of performance. The GPU features a massive 24GB of Samsung-made GDDR6X memory running at 24Gbps for 1152GB/s of effective bandwidth. Packed with 16384 CUDA Cores, this powerhouse is home to 75 billion transistors in total, more than 2.5x than the RTX 3090 Ti. A price tag of $1599 for the 4090 has had its fair share of criticism from the community.
