Fix: Yahoo Account Hacked Can’t Receive Emails

You’ve come to the right place if your Yahoo account has been hacked. What hackers usually do is redirect your emails to their own email address and erase your contacts list. The reason behind this is that they send out an email to your contacts pretending to be you, demanding, requesting, or asking them for money. At the same time, they do not want you to notice any of this because if you do notice it, then their plan fails.

Here’s what you should do to fix your Yahoo e-mail.

First and most important step: (Change Your Password).

1. Login to your Yahoo account.

2. Click the settings wheel in the top right corner.

settings

3. Click on ‘Accounts’ in the left pane and select ‘Change Your Password.’ Type in your new password, then click ‘Continue’.

4. After the password has been changed, go back to settings and click Filters from the left pane. Then, select each filter and click Remove so that there are no filters.

5. Then from the left pane choose Accounts again, and choose the option that says POP. Make sure that the second option which says “Forward” is not selected.

pop

And then hit Save option.

This should fix your email issue. Send yourself a test and see if it works.

To Restore Contacts

1. Choose the Contacts icon from the top.

2. Click ‘Actions’ and choose ‘Restore from Backup.’

3. Choose a date before the account was hacked, and click Restore.

Hi Kevin, I’ve just read your post and I’m hoping that you could help me with my current issue. My account was recently hacked and spam was sent out using my address. I have followed all of the prescribed procedures and secured my account, but I have been unable to RECEIVE email (MAC or iPhone) via Yahoo (soozrhee@yahoo.com). I’ve tried several of the prescribed fixes, but I have not been able to correct the issue. Do you have any suggestions? Also, I did contact Yahoo using Quick Fix and they stated that they could not find a System Issues. I removed any filters, verified that there is NO forwarding activated and I checked for correct ‘reply to’ address. I’m able to send/receive email via Gmail, using the same MAC/iPhone), so I don’t think that the problem is with the terminal. I am not very savvy with these email issues, and I’m out of ideas. Please help. Thank you, in advance!

After a few hours searching, turns out you can’t see the changed parameters from the new interface. Go to your parameters, change to “basic feature” -> Save Go back to your parameters, and find the POP transfers and uncheck this son of a b****

A friend has this same issue but when I switch back to Basic Mail, I can’t find anywhere that has the POP transfer option. Can anyone guide me to where that is? I have checked Account, Preferences and more and can’t find anything.

Hi, My account has been hacked. However I’ve been able to restore my password and I thought I had regain full control over my account. I’ve changed alternate email, phone number (they had been changed by the hacker) and I’ve also enabled 2-step verification. However, I do not receive any emails. forwarding is disabled and pop is enabled, I’ve checked there is only one device – my ipad. However the mail does not arrive to ipad either. is there anything I can do to fix this?

      K. Arrows Author Sep 16, 2015

chances are that forwarding is enabled; check filters as well. other then these two settings; there’s nothing else these scammers change.

I’ve deleted all filters as soon as I changed the password. the forwarding option is fully disabled, I cannot click on forwarding for some reason so I cannot even check if it is being forwarded or not

Check your Spam Folder, Your Blocked Folder and try to send emails from another email account and see what comes back.

I have made no recent software or hardware changes (Win 7 64bit).
I have run all anti-virus and malware scans, not infected (Panda antiV, SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, Spyware Blaster, Spybot S&D).
Sending a test message, “1 a b” or any other today only results in Yahoo generated “Unable to send message……….To prevent abouse, your message cannnot be sent now. If the message contains only a link, please add some text to it. This helps us fight spam. If it still cannot be sent, please modify the message or try again later. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
Minutes ago I received a message sent to markdiaz3@yahoo.com. This is not my address.
I ahve since changed my password.
    No change.
