How to Fix Facebook Share Button Not Showing?
Facebook’s Share button can disappear when the post is not actually shareable outside its current audience. A Friends-only post, a private-group post, a locked-profile post, or a Friends-only reel will not behave like a public Page post.

That is why the same account can show a full Share menu on one post and no obvious Share option on another. Facebook is usually following the privacy context of the original post, not hiding the button because the app is broken.
Check the post audience and where the post was published first. Only treat it like an app problem after you confirm the post should be publicly shareable.
1. Check Whether the Original Post Is Public
Facebook limits sharing based on the audience selected for the original post. If a post was shared with Friends, it will not have the same broad share path as a Public post.
- Open the original post.
- Look for the audience icon or label, such as Public, Friends, or a custom audience.

If the post is not Public, Facebook may limit or hide the normal Share path. - If the post is yours and you want it shared more broadly, change the audience to Public if Facebook allows it.
- Compare it with another post that is already Public.
If the Share button is missing only on non-public posts, the app is not the main issue. If the post is public and the Share option is still missing, check whether the post came from a group.
2. Check Whether the Post Came from a Private Group
Private groups are not meant to expose their posts to the public feed. Even if you can see the post as a member, Facebook may not show the same Share button you would see on a public post.
- Open the group where the post was published.
- Check whether the group is marked Public or Private.

Private-group posts often have limited sharing because the post belongs to a members-only space. - If the post is from a private group, do not expect the normal public Share behavior.
- If the post is from a public group, compare it with another public-group post to see whether the issue is tied to one post or all group posts.
If the missing Share button only happens inside private groups, that is expected privacy behavior. If the post is not private-group content, check profile and reel restrictions next.
3. Check Locked Profiles and Reel Audience
Locked profiles and Friends-only reels can also reduce sharing. A post or reel may look normal to you while still being unavailable for broader sharing because its audience is limited.
- Check whether the profile tied to the post is locked.
- If the profile is locked, expect public sharing to be limited.
- If the missing Share button is on a reel, check whether the reel audience is Public or Friends.

Friends-only reels and locked-profile content can lose the normal public Share path. - If it is your own reel, compare it with a reel that is already set to Public.

4. Compare the Same Post in the App and Browser
Once the post should be shareable, the Facebook app or browser session becomes the next suspect. A public post may show the Share path in one client but not another if the app view is stale or loaded incorrectly.
- Open the same post in the Facebook app.
- Open the same post in a mobile or desktop browser.
- Also check whether you are viewing it as your personal profile, a switched Page, or from a group context.

If a public post shares correctly in one client but not another, the app or browser state is more likely responsible. - Force close Facebook, reopen it, and check the same post again.
If Share returns after the app refresh, the issue was local to that Facebook client. If the same public post has no share path anywhere, report it to Meta.
5. Report a Clearly Public Post with No Share Option
Use this only after confirming that the post is public, not from a private group, not limited by a locked profile, and not a Friends-only reel. At that point, screenshots are more useful than repeatedly changing privacy settings.
- Open Facebook > profile picture > Help & support > Report a problem.

A targeted report is useful once privacy, group, and client-view causes have already been ruled out. - Explain whether the missing Share path is on a profile post, reel, Page post, or group post.
- State the confirmed audience, such as Public or Friends.
- Attach screenshots from both the app and browser view of the same post.
