Samsung’s 10-Core Exynos 2500 Spotted Online With Upgraded Cortex-X5 and A730 Core Configuration

Days after Samsung’s Exynos 2400 was formally announced to be featured in the S24 series, early information on the next SoC in line, the Exynos 2500, has surfaced online, showing notable improvements over this year’s chipset.

The Exynos 2500 Sports a 10-Core CPU Configuration with Upgraded ARM Cortex Cores

The Exynos 2500 will feature a 10-core CPU, carrying forward the same 1+5+4 cluster configuration on the E2400. In fact, most of the architecture is the same, with upgraded ARM Cortex cores. The big core gets an upgrade with a single Cortex-X5 core, clocked in at 3.2-3.3GHz.

The mid cores feature the same 3+2 cluster, with Cortex A730 cores, up from the Cortex A720 on the E2400. The higher clocked 3 cores come in at 2.3-2.5GHz, whereas the information on the clock speeds for other two cores is limited. On the efficiency side, we see the same A520 cores carried forward from the previous SoC. The clock speeds for these two cores were also not mentioned.

One interesting tidbit that stands out is the fact that Samsung has decided to keep the clocks in check on the Exynos 2500. See, the E2400 features the X4 clocked in at 3.2GHz, the same as that on the E2500 with X5 cores. The upgrade in these Cortex cores may just be enough to justify the performance leap, and lowering the clocks would aid in better efficiency numbers.

No information was provided on the GPU of the Exynos 2500. As far as we know, the performance and efficiency numbers for the Exynos 2400 have just started to pour in, and the Xclipse 940 (E2400’s GPU) seems to stand quite strong among the competition.
