How to Fix Discord Error 3002: Mic Not Detecting Input
The error message “Well, it looks like Discord is not detecting any input from your mic” with error code 3002 appears in a red banner at the top of your Discord screen. This error occurs when the app detects your microphone but can’t register any input from it.

The most common causes include:
- Microphone permission being blocked, preventing Discord from accessing the mic.
- Wrong input device selection stopping the signal from reaching Discord.
- Outdated or corrupted drivers interrupting the mic connection.
- Background applications blocking mic access.
- Internal cache failure preventing Discord from detecting the input.
Now that you know why this happens, let’s fix it step by step.
1. Run Microphone Troubleshooter
Starting with the built-in Windows troubleshooter is a smart move because it can automatically detect and fix audio input issues. This is often the quickest way to restore microphone functionality.
- Search for Troubleshooting settings and open it.

- Click Other troubleshooters.

- Find Recording Audio and select Run the troubleshooter.

- Follow the on-screen instructions to apply any recommended fixes.
2. Turn Off Microphone Access and Turn It Back On
If the troubleshooter doesn’t help, resetting microphone permissions can fix hidden glitches. Turning access off and back on forces Windows to refresh permissions for Discord.
- Press Windows + I to open Settings and go to Privacy.

- Select Microphone.
- Turn off microphone access, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.

- Scroll down and make sure Discord is allowed.
- Restart Discord and check if the microphone works.
3. Make Sure Microphone Volume Is 100%
Discord can display this error when there’s no actual input signal. A muted or low microphone volume in Windows audio settings can block Discord from receiving audio.
- Right-click the speaker icon on the taskbar and select Sounds.

- Go to the Recording tab and select your microphone.
- Click Properties.

- Open the Levels tab.
- Set the volume to 100% and click OK.

4. Delete the Discord Folder
A corrupted Discord cache can interfere with microphone detection. Deleting the local folder forces the app to rebuild fresh data and resolve misconfigurations.
- Completely close Discord.
- Press Windows + R, type
%appdata%, and press Enter.
- Delete the Discord folder.

- Reopen the app and log in again.
5. Check if Microphone Is Disabled in Realtek Audio Console
If your PC uses Realtek drivers, the microphone may be disabled directly in the Realtek Audio Console, bypassing Windows settings. Re-enabling it here can restore Discord’s mic detection.
- Open Realtek Audio Console from the Start menu.
- Go to the Microphone tab.
- Make sure the mic is enabled and the volume is properly set.

- Close the console and relaunch Discord.
