The Dia browser arrives on macOS, and it can read your tabs using AI
After Arc, The Browser Company is betting big on AI with Dia.

After shelving Arc last year, The Browser Company took its second big shot with Dia. The idea is essentially the same: changing the way you browse. Dia is now available in public beta, and generally, it banks on making AI a natural part of your workflow.
Dia comes with a familiar interface, and can understand what you have or had open in your browser
One of Arc’s biggest appeals was its creatively new interface. However, this didn’t resonate with most users, making the product commercially unviable. Now, the company doesn’t try to change what a browser is at its very core. Dia looks and feels much more familiar, like Chrome or Edge, but with more AI.
The idea is simple: give users an easy way to use AI. The Browser Company expects this will pull away the need for people to open multiple ChatGPT or Gemini tabs, which, to some extent, interfere with their workflow.
Dia’s address bar is also its chat interface. It can be used to search the web and interact with AI. However, its big idea is its ability to get the browsing context. Dia makes notes every time you open a website. This makes it much more personalized than something like ChatGPT.

It also does the usual: summarizes content, searches the web for you, and more. Since Dia understands your browsing activity, it can write a draft based on your open tabs. If you’re on Gmail or Slack, the browser understands how you write or the writing style you prefer, and hence, can draft an email or message in a similar style.
If you’re shopping, Dia can help you find products that match what you usually look for on online stores. But, with all this, privacy can be a huge question mark. The Browser Company says that whenever anything is sent to the servers for processing, it is almost instantly wiped. Even on your computer, the data is stored in an encrypted format.
Dia is currently in beta and is available on macOS 14+ with M1 chips or later. It’s open to existing Arc members, but you can also join the waitlist via their website.
