Fix: “We Couldn’t Sign You In” Error in Microsoft Clipchamp
The “We couldn’t sign you in. Please try again” error in the Microsoft Clipchamp desktop app occurs when the application fails to authenticate your Microsoft account. This prevents users from signing in and accessing their saved projects.
The error is usually linked to server outages, incorrect login details, network interruptions, or corrupted app files. Before attempting the fixes below, make sure to:
- Check your internet connection using SpeedTest or Fast.
- Verify Clipchamp’s server status. If Microsoft’s servers are down, you’ll need to wait until service is restored.
If servers are working fine and your connection is stable, proceed with the following solutions.
1. Sign in to Microsoft Store
Clipchamp uses the same Microsoft account as the Microsoft Store. If the Store is not signed in, Clipchamp may fail authentication. Ensure that the same account is used across both apps.
- Press Win + S, type “Microsoft Store”, and open it.
- Click the Profile icon > Sign in.
- Enter your Microsoft account credentials and sign in.
- Open Clipchamp and select “Sign in with Microsoft”.
- Choose the same Microsoft account you used for the Store.
- Clipchamp should now load properly with your account.
2. Repair Clipchamp from App Settings
If Clipchamp’s app files or stored sign-in tokens become corrupted, the login process can fail. The Repair feature in Windows rebuilds damaged files and clears broken temporary data without deleting your projects.
- Press Win + S > type Clipchamp > select App settings.
- Scroll down and click “Repair”.
- After the repair completes, reopen Clipchamp and attempt to sign in again.
3. Reset Clipchamp from App Settings
If repairing does not resolve the issue, resetting Clipchamp can help. A reset deletes corrupted data (tokens, previews, cached files) that block authentication, essentially giving the app a clean reinstall-like state.
Note: Resetting will remove unsaved projects and temporary data. Ensure all projects are backed up before continuing.
- Press Win + S > type Clipchamp > select App settings.
- Click “Reset”.
- Once reset is complete, reopen Clipchamp and attempt to sign in again.
4. Sign in with Google Account (Web Version)
If your Microsoft account is still failing, use the Clipchamp web version and sign in with a Google account or email. This bypasses Microsoft account authentication issues such as outages, credential errors, or account restrictions.
- Open Clipchamp and select “Wanting to sign in with Google or email?”.
- Click “Launch web browser”.
- Choose “Continue with email” or “Continue with Google”.
- Enter your account details.
- Once signed in, you can access your projects and continue editing.
