Is Chivalry 2 Crossplay with Console & PC in 2024?

Produced by Torn Banner Studios, Chivalry 2 is a multiplayer first-person hack-and-slash action video game that pits 64 players against each other in brutal medieval combat filled with epic sword fights and large-scale battles. Since the game recently became free on Epic Games Store during the Epic Mega Sale 2024, Chivalry 2 has seen a surge of new players, as well as returning veterans.

One of the most common questions newcomers have is whether Chivalry 2 supports crossplay. Crossplay can make or break your multiplayer experience. While it allows players on different platforms to join forces it can also introduce unfair gameplay elements. In this article, we will answer if Chivalry 2 supports crossplay and other supporting features like cross-progression and cross-save.

Is Chivalry 2 Crossplay?

Yes, Chivalry 2 features crossplay support across PC (if you download the game through the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. This allows players from different platforms to join the same game and fight alongside or against each other.

When crossplay was first announced, it only included cross-platform matchmaking, meaning players could be matched against those on different platforms but couldn’t form cross-platform parties to play together. Fortunately, with the Raiding Party update, the studio introduced the ability to add players from any platform to your friend list using friend codes and team up with them.

How to Add Crossplay Friends in Chivalry 2?

To play Chivalry 2 with your crossplay friends, you’ll need to add them by either sending them your unique friend code or entering theirs. Here’s a quick look at both of these situations.

1. Sending a Friend Code

If you want to send your friend code to a crossplay friend so they can add you, follow these steps:

1. Launch Chivalry 2 and press the corresponding button to open the “Social” menu.
   

   

2. From this menu, look to the right side of the screen and you should be able to see your unique code in the “Your Invite Code” section. Press the corresponding button to reveal it.
   

   

3. And that’s it! You now just have to send this to your friend and they have to enter it in. 

2. Adding a Friend Code

Once you or your friend have the unique friend code, simply enter it in the appropriate menu. Here’s how to do that:

1. Head back to the Social menu, and just below your friend code, you’ll find the “Add Friends” button. Press the corresponding button to open a pop-up menu.
   

   

2. Here, all you have to do is enter the friend code your crossplay friend sent you and hit the Send Friend Request button to send them a request.
   

   

One thing to note is that both of you need to complete this process to add each other as friends. This means that if your friend has sent you their friend code, you will first add them using it, and then send them your friend code, which they will enter to add you.

How To Invite Crossplay Friends in Chivalry 2

Now that you have your crossplay friend added to your friends list, it’s time to invite them to your party and get ready for battle together.

1. Inviting Crossplay Friends

To invite your crossplay friends, you’ll need to follow these steps:

1. Launch Chivalry 2 and open up the Social menu again. From here, look for your friend under the Friends list and if they are playing they should display on the left side of the screen under the Playing Chivalry 2 list.
   

   

2. Next, select your friend and press the Invite To Party button on the right side of the screen.
   

   

2. Accepting Invites

Now that you have sent your friend an invite, all they have to do is accept it to join your party. Here’s how they can do it:

1. Launch Chivalry 2 and open up the Social menu. From here, head over to the Party tab and you should see their invite under the Pending Invites tab.
   

   

2. Once you accept the invite, you and your friend should appear in the In Party menu together. And that’s it! Now you can both play a match together.

How To Turn Off Crossplay in Chivalry 2

If you don’t want to play with crossplay players and just want to exclusively stick with players from your specific platform, you have the option to disable crossplay in Chivalry 2. However, it’s important to note that disabling crossplay may result in longer queue times, as the game will prioritize finding matches with players solely from your platform.

Chivalry 2 Cross Save and Cross Progression

Chivalry 2 currently does not support cross-progression, nor does it offer cross-save functionality. This means that any progress made in the game is platform-specific and cannot be carried over to other platforms. As of yet, Torn Banner Studios has not made any official announcements regarding plans to introduce these features in the future.

Chivalry 2 allows players to queue with others on different platforms and add crossplay friends to fight together. However, the game currently lacks support for features such as cross-save and cross-progression and we can only hope to see these features added to the game in the future.
