How to Block Texts on Android?

Text messaging is one of the great modern ways of communicating but it has its con like every other technology. Sometimes you might need to block someone from sending you texts on your Android phone and we will be showing you how to do that in this article. Make sure to follow the guide relevant to your device.

Blocking Texts on Android

There are different messaging applications for different mobile phones and we will try to show the methods for some of the most popular ones. Also, in the end, we will show a workaround for those applications that don’t contain a blocking feature.

For Samsung:

1. Open the Messaging app and click on the conversation with the person you want to block.
2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner.

   

3. Select the “Block Number” option.

   

4. You can choose to delete the conversation, click on “OK” after selecting.
5. This will now prevent them from being able to message you.

For Huawei:

There are two ways you can achieve this task, either through the messaging app or through the Contacts App. Both methods are listed below.

Through Messaging App:

1. Open the messaging app and select the conversation with the person that you want to block.
2. Click on the ‘Three Dots” in the top right corner.
3. Click on the “Details” button.

   

4. Select the “Block and Reports Spam” option.

   

5. In the next window, you can choose whether you want to report the contact or not.
6. Click on “OK” after making your choice and the number will now be blocked from sending you text messages.

Through Settings.

1. Open the Contacts app and select the contact that you want to block.
2. Click on the “Three Dots” on the bottom of your screen and select the “Block” option.

   

3. Confirm any prompts that are displayed and the number will be blocked from sending you text messages.
4. The contact will now show “Blocked” under their name and they can be unblocked in the same manner.

For LG Devices:

1. Open the messaging app and select the “Three Dots” in the top right corner.

   

2. Click on the “Settings” option and select the “Message Blocking” option.

   

3. Click on the “Blocked Numbers” button and then select the “+” sign in the top right corner.

   

4. Click on “Contacts” and then select the contact that you want to block messages for.
5. Also, if the number that you want to block isn’t saved, you can select the “Number” option after clicking the “+” sign and select the “Block” option.
6. This will now prevent the number from being able to message you.

For Oppo Devices:

1. Click on the “Settings” option, scroll down and select the “Security” option.

   

2. Select the “Anti-Harassment/Fraud” option and click on the “Block Messages” button.
3. Add the number you want to block or select a contact from the list.
4. This number will now be blocked from sending you messages.

Block Text Messages on Any Android Phone:

1. Click on the “PlayStore” icon and click on the “search button”.
2. Enter “Handcent SMS” in the bar and press “Enter”.
3. Click on the first option and select the “Install” option.

   

4. Wait for the application to be downloaded and installed.
5. Once installed, remember to disable the notifications for other messaging applications since we will now be using Handcent SMS as our primary messaging app.
6. Click on the app and select the “Menu” button on the top left corner
7. Select the “More” option and click on “Settings”.

   

8. Select “All” and click on “Privacy and Security”.

   

9. Click on the “Manage Blacklist” and select the “+” button on the top right corner.
10. You can choose to either select the contact or enter a new number.
