Backup Data from a Samsung Account to a Samsung Account

Samsung devices include a Samsung account, which is different from your main account used for Google Play, Gmail, and other Android services. Your Samsung account is used to access Samsungspecific content and apps and to back up your data to the cloud.

If you want to transfer data from your Samsung account on one Android phone to another account or a different device, you’ll need to set up a backup first. Once your data is backed up, you can then move it to another account or device by following the steps below.

Step 1: Back Up Your Data

First, you need to back up your data on the device that contains the information you want to keep.

Samsung-Enable-Backup

  1. Open your apps menu to bring up the app drawer.
  2. Find and open Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap on Accounts.
  4. Find and select Samsung account.
  5. Tap Backup.
  6. Choose the items you want to back up.
  7. First, turn on Auto backup.
  8. Then tap Backup now.
  9. Your data is now safely saved to your Samsung account.

Step 2: Sign In on the New Device

Once your data is backed up, you’ll need to sign into the Samsung account with your backup data on the new device you want to use.

  1. Open your apps menu to bring up the app drawer.
  2. Find and open Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap on Accounts.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Add account.
  5. Select Samsung account.
  6. Tap Sign in.
  7. Enter the email address and password for the Samsung account where your backup data is stored, then sign in.

Step 3: Restore Your Data

Now, you’ll need to restore your backup data to your new device. Follow these steps:

  1. Open your apps menu to bring up the app drawer.
  2. Find and open Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap on Accounts.
  4. Find and select Samsung account.
  5. Tap Restore.
  6. Tap OK on the popup prompt.
  7. Your data will now begin restoring to the new device.

Step 4: Remove the Old Samsung Account (Optional)

If you want to remove your Samsung account from the device while keeping your backup files, you can do that too. This is helpful if you want to move data from one Samsung account to another or simply clean up old accounts on a device.

  1. Open your apps menu to bring up the app drawer.
  2. Find and open Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap on Accounts.
  4. Find and select Samsung account.
  5. Tap the account you want to remove, then tap Remove.
