How to Fix the Arc Browser Not Launching Issue on Windows?

The Arc browser may refuse to launch for several reasons. I personally faced this issue after installing it for the very first time in Windows 11. Various factors could stop the Arc browser from launching. This issue occurs mainly due to problems with application data. However, you may also face this issue if there are multiple instances of Arc already running in the background.

Before we proceed to the methods, it is advisable to restart your computer. This will restart all the services and clear out the data from memory, which can eliminate bugs that might be preventing you from launching the Arc browser.

1. Reset or Repair Arc

This method has worked for me, and it might be the best solution to try first. Resetting Arc will clear the application data, which includes your authentication cookies and frequently accessed data. Additionally, if you repair the Arc browser, it will attempt to fix the files that might be corrupted, which could be causing this issue.

  1. Click the Start Menu and type Arc.
  2. Right-click the Arc Application and select App Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom and click Repair.
  4. Once done, try launching the Arc app. If it still doesn’t launch, then click Reset, and the issue should be gone.

2. Close Arc from the Task Manager

You might have multiple instances of the Arc browser running in the background. If that’s the case, you might not be able to launch the Arc browser until you close all the instances from the Task Manager.

  1. Right-click the Taskbar and select Task Manager.
  2. Once it is launched, right-click each Arc instance one by one and select End task.
  3. Once done, launch the Arc browser to see if this worked.

3. Run Arc as an Administrator

Running Arc as an administrator will grant all the necessary permissions it requires to run properly. Sometimes, applications refuse to launch due to insufficient permissions to access DLL and other redistributions. It might be worth trying if the issue persists.

  1. Right-click the Arc app and select Run as administrator.
  2. If Arc launches, then configure it to always run as administrator.
  3. Right-click the Arc Browser and select Properties.

4. Reinstall Arc Browser

Lastly, if none of the solutions work, reinstalling the Arc browser might be the final solution you can try. This will fix the problem if corrupted files are causing the issue.

  1. Click the Start Menu, type Arc, and right-click on it.
  2. Then, select Uninstall. Click Uninstall again to confirm.
  3. Once done, download and install the Arc browser.
  4. Then, check if the issue is resolved or persists.

If reinstalling the app also fails to launch the Arc browser, report this issue to Arc browser support. They will better assist you by analyzing your situation closely.
