ZTE Goes For Non Flagship SoC With The Axon 11: SD 765G Instead of The SD 865

ZTE produces some fine mid-range devices. Except for the Axon lineup, the manufacturer aims for the mid-range market. The idea is to go for value over specs. And that is good, given that the company aims for customers in the Asian market, where the average income is less than that in the Western markets. This time around though, to maintain that price to features ratio, the company has ditched the flagship killer approach and opted for a strong competitor in the mid-range market. This is the ZTE Axon 11.

Specs for the Axon 11

Right off the top, we see, in an article from XDA-Developers, the device would feature an AMOLED panel, measuring in at 6.47 inches. This would be a curved 3D panel, similar to those in Samsung flagships in the past. It would be a 1080p panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, all according to the latest industry standards.

The camera is again pretty flagship material. We would find a quad-camera setup on the back. These would include a 64MP main shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens and another 2MP lens for depth sensing. What would you get out of these lenses? Well, the device can shoot 4K video at 60fps. It can even shoot 4K HDR in real-time with stabilization. This makes it out to be quite the camera.

Then what makes the ZTE Axon 11, not a flagship. It is the SoC inside. The company, instead of opting for a Snapdragon 865 chip with a separate 5G modem, went for a Snapdragon 765G which has 5G support. This processor, though, is not a push-over but it isn’t really up there with the flagships. Of course, ZTE has taken this decision to keep the price point low. Not to mention, to provide 5G support in mid-range devices.

The pricing for the device would range from about $380 to about $478 for the 8GB+128GB variant. It would be available in China for now.
