Ever since the Switch came out, hackers have been trying to exploit the console in numerous ways. First came the mandatory free games jailbreak. After this we saw the implementation of Linux onto the console, and just a few days ago a user also got Android to work on the Switch. However, all of this was just not enough for Switch hackers, so a hacker decided to step things up a notch and took it to a whole different level.
Windows 10 On The Switch
There were several reports today regarding a popular hacker called Ben who got Windows 10 to work on the Nintendo Switch. This hacker was also the leading developer in the group of hackers that ported Windows 10 onto the Lumia 950 lineup. The Windows 10 in question is however, not a full version of the Operating System. The Windows used in the project is an ARM variant of Windows 10 just like the one ported onto the Lumia 950 lineup.
Momentarily, Windows does not appear to be working properly on the console. As Windows keeps giving the “Blue Screen of Death.” However, this does not come as a surprise since Windows needs to be tweaked and adjusted to match Switch’s hardware in order to run properly. We can see the Switch running Windows 10 and receiving the “Blue Screen of Death.” in Ben’s tweet below.

All of this is possible due to the Switch’s Tegra processor. An exploit in the processor’s boot code allows security measures to be completely bypassed.
This Exploit is far from complete. Even after Ben manages to launch Windows, he still will be left with many problems. He will have to get Switch’s touch screen, sensors, controllers to work with Windows which will take a lot of time. We will keep you updated if there is a major breakthrough in the process.
