Survey Reveals that 72% of players pre-ordered PS5, while only 30% went for Xbox Series X
Early result shows PS5 is well ahead of Xbox Series X

A new survey conducted by VGM reveals that 72% of players In the US pre-ordered PlayStation 5. At the same time, only 30% went for Xbox Series X. The survey also brought forward that out of the 511 participants, only 15% were able to pre-order any next-gen console.
The survey was conducted in the U.S. from September 23 to September 25, 2020. If you look at the percentage of people who pre-ordered PS5, it does look one-sided. However, In the last segments of the survey, VGM wrote that 29% of players weren’t able to pre-order next-gen consoles. Among these players, 58% are looking forward to PS5 Disc Edition, while 40% will be going for Xbox Series X. This kind of puts the competition back Into place, but still Sony is far ahead of Microsoft.
Another Important thing this polling highlight is the PS5 Digital Edition and Xbox Series S interest. We thought that PS5 Digital Edition would do well because it provided the same specs as Disc Edition for just $399.99. Subsequently, the Xbox Series S was also well thought of, considering it featured next-gen meta with a bit lower specs for just $299.99. To everyone’s surprise, only 21% were interested in PS5 Digital Edition, and 11% in Xbox Series S

The polling also reveals that for PS5 users, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, God of War Ragnorak, and Final Fantasy XVI were the centre of Interest. Similarly, 45% of Xbox fans mentioned Halo Infinite, despite it being delayed to 2021. The rest went for Forza Motorsport 8 and Fable. We haven’t heard much of Forza Motorsport 8, but here are few details.
Apart from Exclusives, some fans were also interested in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Before you analyse the rest of the survey and consider the results, here are a few things you should note. Firstly, the PS5 Pre-Orders were absolute chaos. That is to say; we saw Sony immediately embedding the PS5 for pre-order without Informing customers. This resulted in scalpers getting most of the PS5’s and to this date, It is out of stock. In the same vein, Xbox Series X also had problems with pre-orders, despite Microsoft giving a ten days notice.
To sum up, the survey confirms 29% weren’t able to pre-order neither of the next-gen consoles. We don’t know how much of this 29% were Series X fans and how much were those of PS5. Finding this can change results, and to be very honest. There should be another poll held at the end this year to see more promising numbers.
