Xbox Game Pass Early August Update – Hades, Katamari Damacy Reroll, Lumines Remastered And More Headed to the Service This Month

A total of ten new titles will be debuting on Microsoft’s Game Pass service this August, alongside brand-new DLCs and expansions for existing titles within the service.

As part of their monthly rollout of updates for their premium gaming service, Microsoft has announced the latest collection of titles arriving on Xbox Game Pass this August. From August 5 to August 17, subscribers will get a total of ten new games to check out for the service, as well as tons of new DLCs and expansions for games already in Xbox Game Pass.

Coming to Xbox Game Pass this August

Curse of the Dead Gods (August 5)

(available via the Cloud, Xbox Series consoles and Windows 10 PCs)

An action roguelike from publisher Focus Home Interactive and developer Passtech Games, Curse of the Dead Gods plays from an isometric perspective, with no two runs ever being the same. Explore a seemingly-infinite labyrinth of bottomless pits, deadly traps, and monsters in an accursed temple, all while seeking untold riches, eternal life and divine powers.

Dodgeball Academia (August 5)

Debuting on Xbox Game Pass as a Day 1 release, Dodgeball Academia is a dodgeball sports game featuring vibrant characters in a cartoony RPG world. Forge various friendships and form rivalries in turn as you advance in your journey to be the ultimate dodgeball champion. Dominate both on and off the courts as this title arrives Day 1 this August 5th on Xbox Game Pass.

Katamari Damacy Reroll (August 5)

The wacky adventures of the pushing prince are here and it’s in HD. Katamari Damacy Reroll is developed by MONKEYCRAFT and published by Bandai Namco, and it’s available to play in single-player and multiplayer modes, including an option for split-screen to share the fun with someone by your side.

Lumines Remastered (August 5)

The critically-acclaimed puzzle game from legendary developer Tetsuya Mizuguhi is making its way to Xbox Game Pass this August, in all its remastered glory. Lumines marries the elements of sound, light and puzzle into one engaging experience that can be played across all ages. Accompanying you on your puzzles are awesome house, trance and techno beats, so puzzle lovers are sure to find something worth loving in Lumines Remastered.

Skate (August 5)

EA Play’s partnership with Xbox has ensured a steady stream of games from the former’s service being made available on Xbox Game Pass; Skate is the latest of these titles, and one to remember for those who loved the original skateboarding game. Ride with pros or by yourself in a fully-reactive city in this immersive arcadey skateboarding game.

Skate 3 (August 5)

Another one of the latest from EA Play’s offerings on Xbox Game Pass, Skate 3 is the culmination of Electronic Arts’ monumental skateboarding series. Featuring a revamped and definitive co-op skateboarding experience, Skate 3 allows you to build your ultimate team to face the many skateboarding challenges within this city.

Starmancer (August 5)

Releasing this August 5 as a Day 1 preview title for Xbox Game Pass on PC, Starmancer is a space-based simulation game that sees you managing a space base while in the form of a powerful A.I. Starmancer will see you building space ports and secret laboratories, as well as incubators for mysterious eggs. Defend your base at all costs against the many threats of space.

Art of Rally (August 12)

Coming to Xbox Game Pass next week, Art of Rally takes racing fans back to the golden era of rallying. Featuring tons of driving options that cater to both beginners and experts in the genre, Art of Rally includes tracks in Kenya with four new cars, six new tracks, plus a brand-new free roam area.

Hades (August 13)

One of the most critically-acclaimed action roguelike games in 2020, Hades sees you playing as the son of the titular Lord of the Underworld as he seeks to find the truth behind his parentage, as well as his uphill and never ending battle to the surface. As a roguelike, no two runs are the same, with different weapons and boons from the gods of Olympus to aid you on your quest.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection: Premium Edition (August 17)

The premium edition of one of the most played games of all time is coming this August 17 on Windows 10 PCs via the Xbox Game Pass. Enjoy one of the most comprehensive Solitaire experiences, including daily challenges, competitive events, Xbox achievements, and a new Xbox theme.

EA Play + Xbox Game Pass

Starting August 10, Xbox Game Pass owners will be able to enjoy a folio of great racing titles from developer Codemasters, brought to players by EA Play.

DLCs and Game Updates

Besides the newest titles, Xbox Game Pass will also be releasing some updates and DLCs for existing games within the service. Check out the list below:

  • Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition – the African Royales Downloadable Content will be 25 percent off for Xbox Game Pass owners.
  • Gears 5 – Operation 8 Bundle can be grabbed by Xbox Game Pass owners with a 10 percent discount.
  • Dead by Daylight – the Archives Tome VIII: Deliverance package is now available for purchase for Xbox Games Pass owners.
  • Rainbow Six Siege – the Containment event is now available for purchase until August 24.
  • Sniper Elite 4 – Series X|S update for next-gen consoles now available.
  • Zombie Army 4 – the Left 4 Dead 2 character pack is now available for purchase.

Leaving Xbox Game Pass

This month, there will be a couple of games leaving the Xbox Game Pass rotation. This includes Grand Theft Auto V for the Cloud and Xbox Series consoles on August 8. On August 15, Ape Out, Crossing Souls, Darksiders Genesis, Don’t Starve, Final Fantasy VII and Train Sim World 2020 will be bowing out.

In addition to this, Microsoft also announced that Forza Motorsport 7 will no longer be purchasable on their storefronts and the Xbox Game Pass starting September 15, 2021. While existing players who have already purchased the game can still download and play it in the future, first-time prospective buyers after the aforementioned date will no longer be able to.
