Xbox is Working on “Gorgeous Fantasy Worlds” and “Reboots”, Says Insider

With the cancellation of several gaming events such as E3 and GDC, 2020 is looking to be a gloomy year for gaming. On top of that, COVID-19 has led more and more developers to announce delays for their upcoming title. It’s not all bad news, however, as new information from a reliable insider suggests that Microsoft’s Xbox is working on a number of “incredibly exciting” games that we’ll hear about soon.

As reported by Windows Central, a post on ResetEra by shinobi602 tells us that Xbox has some exciting things in store for 2020. Although they didn’t dive into details, the post hinted at “gorgeous fantasy worlds”, “big sci-fi”, and even “reboots”.

By itself, the post doesn’t give us much to go on, but the information does seem to line up with what we have learned over the past few months. Rumors regarding a revival of the Fable series have been flying around for a while now, and it’s believed that Playground Games is working on the the supposed new title. The new open-world game would allegedly feature first and third person modes, an in-depth character creator, as well as multiplayer functionality.

This is all far from concrete information, but it’s definitely better than nothing during this dry spell of gaming news. Shinobi601 also notes that it won’t be long before we learn about these new titles.

It’s not my place to give details,” says Shinobi602. “So I won’t. But you won’t have to wait too much longer, really. I’m incredibly excited at what’s coming from Xbox.”

As the entire world continues to limit physical events, Microsoft recently announced that all of its events until July 2021 will be held in a digital environment. As such, the cancellation of E3 doesn’t necessarily mean that the studio’s scheduled announcements will be put on hold. In fact, it’s quite possible that the “exciting games” will be revealed in the coming weeks, if not months.
