World’s First 17.3-Inch Portable Monitor With 240Hz Refresh Rate Launched, ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHP Packs 7800 mAh Battery And USB-C Connectivity

ASUS has launched ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHP, the world’s first large format and truly portable monitor with a blazing fast refresh rate. To ensure users, especially gamers, have ample runtime, the portable monitor packs a large battery.

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced the availability of Strix XG17AHP, the world’s fastest portable monitor. The monitor is gaming ready from the moment it is unboxed. In addition to its large battery, the Strix XG17AHP also comes with several important features such as multiple USB Type-C ports, Quick Charge, micro-HDMI 2.0 port as well as a set of integrated speakers for complete portability and gaming on the go.

ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHP Specifications, Features:

The ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHP features a 17.3″ FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS display with wide viewing angles and a super-fast 240 Hz refresh rate. This should be ideal for a very smooth gaming experience. Additionally, the portable monitor supports VESA Adaptive-Sync technology that automatically synchronizes the display’s refresh rate with the GPU’s output at refresh rates ranging between 48 Hz and 240 Hz. Adaptive Sync attempts to prevent screen tearing and ensure smoother visuals even if frame rates drop below the panel’s native refresh rate.

The Strix XG17AHP has a large built-in 7800 mAh battery. ASUS assures the battery can provide up to 3.5 hours of gaming at 240 Hz on a full charge. The monitor supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology, and the company claims two hours of 240 Hz gaming after an hour of charging. There are two USB Type-C ports onboard, and one of the ports handles power input. In other words, users can connect the monitor via the USB Type-C port to a laptop and draw power (USB PD 3.0) as well. The port supports power draw from a compatible charger connected to the power socket or even a portable battery. The other USB-C port is used for DisplayPort input.

There’s a micro-HDMI 2.0 port that handles all audio-visual signals for connections to gaming consoles or devices. Interestingly, the Strix XG17AHP also packs a pair of 1-watt speakers. While ASUS claims the speakers can provide powerful audio for users who prefer not to use headsets, it would be better to rely on an external dedicated speaker set.

To sweeten the deal, ASUS is also bundling the Strix XG17AHP portable monitor with a ROG Tripod, a Smart Cover, and a ROG carrying bag. The combination is intended to boost portability. ASUS is also offering a Strix XG17AHPE variant featuring a Smart Cover. The ROG Tripod should make the Strix XG17AHPE portable monitor feel more like a traditional monitor. Moreover, the tripod has a quick-release mechanism that clicks onto Strix XG17AHP. The tripod is height-adjustable. Surprisingly, the portable monitor can be raised high enough to sit above the laptop display. Needless to add, there’s a huge degree of freedom about setting the desired display angle.

ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHP Price And Availability:

ASUS has not just announced the ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHP but also ensured it is available for purchase. The ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHP is currently listed on Amazon. It is listed at a retail price of USD 599.

The variant listed on Amazon comes with the Smart Cover. It is not clear how the Smart Cover on the ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHP operates, but it is quite likely the cover when lifted, might trigger the wake function.
