Error 800703F1 is a windows update error which comes up when you’re trying to update using the Windows Updates utility. The error is generally due to the component hive being corrupt. COMPONENT’S HIVE can some times be repaired and some times, the corruption becomes so severe that it cannot be repaired. If it cannot be repaired, then the only option would be to Reset Your PC (Windows 8/8.1/10). The components file is located at C:\Windows\system32\config
In order to repair the component store corruption Hold the Windows Key and Press X. Choose Command Prompt (Admin)
In the black window that opens up, type the following command:
And Press ENTER. Wait for the scan to finish, after it has finished, and if it reports corruption, then execute the following command:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
If the corruption is repaired, it will say that operation has completed successfully. If it fails, it will tell you where the corruption is. In case of a failure, there are no specific steps that you can follow therefore you will to send the log files to us so we can check what exactly is causing it to fail. To do that, type the following command in the same black window and execute it.
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log “%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt”
