This Conceptual Image Envisions Cortana As A Personal Productivity Assistant

Last year, Microsoft separated Cortana from Windows 10 taskbar and released it as a separate app. Its a part of Microsoft’s efforts to rebrand its digital assistant. Moreover, the Redmond giant plans to bring some major improvements for Cortana in Windows 10 20H1.

No doubt Cortana has evolved over the past couple of years. It can now schedule meetings, book appointments, and read your emails. Apart from that, Cortana also facilities you in the best possible way to prepare for the meetings.

However, the fact that Microsoft discontinued Cortana for iOS and Android devices doesn’t mean that it plans to shut down its digital assistant. The Big M has big plans for the deep integration of Cortana into Microsoft’s products.

It seems like people have now understood the fact that Microsoft has embraced a new direction for its digital assistant. A concept published by a twitter user @zeealeid envisions Cortana as a productivity assistant. It proposes that Cortana should facilitate the users in organizing their day to day work.

Cortana As A Productivity Assistant

The UX designer provided an example where a user asks Cortana to create a spreadsheet based on data available in the image. The digital assistant instantly responds with a link to the spreadsheet and asks the Windows 10 user for feedback.

Windows 10 community welcomed the concept, as several people expressed their opinions in favor of this idea.

“Yeah, having a productivity assistant / AI is so much more valuable than asking the weather. Love some of these Cortana concepts where she was integrated into Teams, shown at e.g. Build 2018.”

Of course, Microsoft might come up with some similar changes at some point in one form or another.  We will have to wait and see if Microsoft implements this concept into the official release of Windows 10 20H1. You can definitely use Windows 10 feedback hub to post a feature request.

So, what do you think about this nice new look for Cortana? Do you have any interesting ideas to improve Cortana’s usability? Let us know in the comments section below.
