WhatsApp to End Support for iOS 8 and All Windows Phones By 2020

While we move towards the future, we let go of older technology, making room for the newer ones. Apple recently announced its latest iPhones and while the jury may be out there for the aesthetics, they do render previous models obsolete. While Apple does give some love to its older devices, down to the iPhone SE which came out in 2016, devices older than that are in fact left behind. Same is the case with Android and even the old Windows Mobile Platform.

As these systems grow older, they start losing support for certain apps. For example, the iPod touch 4 cannot support Spotify. Similarly, Whatsapp made some announcements lately as well. According to a Tweet by WABetaInfo, the huge messaging company has updated its support for the latest version of the software.

According to the source, Whatsapp has made certain changes for the support of its platform. According to the tweet, Whatsapp will no longer be supported on iOS 8 and below. Now, there is some more depth to that news. The company breaks it down in two versions. One is for the unsupported tab while the other is future support. Talking about the former first, from 1st of January onwards, in 2020, iOS 7 would not support Whatsapp and its installing. Meanwhile, for iOS 8 users, they would not be able to make or verify a new account on their devices after the 1st of February, the same year.

Just to add to this, this news is not limited to just iOS. Windows Phone and all its versions would be left useless for the App starting the new year. Android versions 2.3.7 and older versions would be unsupported from the 1st of February as well.
