Video Game Adaptation of Monkey King: Hero Is Back Launches on PlayStation 4 Next Year

Monkey King: Hero Is Back is a fantasy action movie that was released in 2015. Today at ChinaJoy 2018, game publisher Oasis Games announced their partnership with Japanese and Chinese development teams to release Monkey King: Hero Is Back for the PlayStation 4.

Monkey King: Hero Is Back

The upcoming action game is under development by HexaDrive, and will be published next year by Oasis Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is based on the animated movie of the same name, Monkey King: Hero Is Back, which broke records as the highest-grossing animated movie in China in 2015. The game aims to bring the movie to life by offering over 10 hours of the main storyline in video game form.

The story of Monkey King: Hero Is Back follows three main characters: Monkey King, Pigsy and Liu Jiang. Throughout their journey, these characters work together and use their skills to fight all kinds of monsters, building their relationship on they way. Watching the story unfold as the characters find the missing pieces of their own lives is an interesting experience.

Oasis Games was formed in 2011 and has published games in over 130 countries. Some of their notable works include Legend Online, Light Tracer and Pixel Gear. If you want to try out Monkey King: Hero Is Back, a demo of the game is currently being hosted at ChinaJoy 2018. Until August 6th, you can enjoy a 15 minute demo at the PlayStation booth at the convention. The demo’s mission is to conquer all challenges and reach the save point while protecting little Liu Jiang.

Currently, the game has not been rated by the ESRB. Although we have no specific time frame, Monkey King: Hero Is Back is expected to be released for the PlayStation 4 in 2019.
