Microsoft just announced the possible release of an update next week to its SharePoint mobile application which will slowly be rolled out to iOS and Android device users. It will possibly be released worldwide by the mid of September this year. It is still unclear whether the update to SharePoint Mobile App will be coming to Windows 10 users or not.
In the release update details provided by Mark Kashman, the new design of SharePoint Mobile App is aimed at getting the users the content that they care about through the new ‘Find’ tab which has fewer taps. This update also brings an improved news layout and brings quick access to recent content.
As mentioned by the Microsoft Blog, the recent update includes a new Find tab which has been reduced to one as compared to the previous number of three. Also, some additional powers have been infused with AI which brings a single tap into knowledge and expertise across the organization. It provides a great mobile experience and possesses an intelligent understanding of what the users may need at a given time. The best thing about this new tab is that it collapses Links, Sites, Search and People into a single, streamlined experience. It will also help the users find quicker answers, people, sites and much more in a tailored and efficient flow of what the user is searching for.
The amazing thing about this new Find tab is that the user will be able to see quick access to content even before they type in the relevant keywords, phrases or names. In short, searching has been made convenient within the SharePoint App.
Some other interesting features have been also included in the update as per Microsoft’s blog:
- Browse your sites, files, people and more to get back to what you were working on
- Access your personalized view of team sites, communication sites, and news posts
- Tap on a person to get to their contact card and see who they work with and what they are working on
- Create news posts on the go and share your updates, reports, status, and experiences with your team
- Receive notifications when people around you publish news articles and engage on ones you’ve published.
