An unofficial package for Android Pie 9.0 Gapps has been released, with the latest build updated 2018.08.15 – this is spectacular news for Gapps users on Android Pie 9.0, as official Gapps only currently supports up to Android 8.1 for all platform variants (ARM, ARM64, x86, and x86_64).
Open GApps is an open-source package / script which will automatically generate up-to-date Google Apps packages – this is extremely useful for users who are downloading custom ROMs on their Android devices, and need the latest Google apps on their device without downloading each app individually – everything is neatly packaged into one install-script.
The developer of this unofficial GApps package, Nezoflame, warns users that the package is provided “as is” and he does not in fact even own a physical device with Android Pie 9.0 on it – which means most of the development was done using emulators. This shouldn’t be a problem, however, as the OpenGApps development team contributed to this project, so issues should be minimal – and we could perhaps see an official OpenGApps release for Android Pie 9.0 in the near future.
