Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered
The first we heard about a new Tony Hawk game was earlier this year in January when punk rock bank The Death Set shared news of a music licensing deal. A week ago, further details about the game popped up in an episode of The Nine Club podcast.
Today, it was announced that the remasters are indeed real and are currently in development by Vicarious Visions, and they are expected to release in September this year.
“What’s really cool for me and a number of people in the studio is, we’ve worked on this series throughout our careers,” studio head Jen Oneal tells Mashable. “I have a number of developers who are actually from Neversoft, a number who worked on the original series, and I worked on the Tony Hawk series for several years back at Activision. So, you know, this was like the start of our careers, and now to evolve and get the opportunity to bring this back is such a big deal for us.”
The two Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games first released in 1999 and 2000, respectively, so expect some big improvements from the remasters. The entire pro skateboarding roster including Tony Hawk himself will be playable characters. Skateboarding tricks, iconic soundtracks, multiple game modes including local co-op and online multiplayer are all part of the remasters. Furthermore, the Create-A-Park and Create-A-Skater features have been revamped. Of course, all of this will be played in glorious 4K resolution with HD textures.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 Remastered launch on September 4th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
