Skateboarding games are far and few these days, and so fans of the genre will be excited to know that the popular Tony Hawk Pro Skater franchise may return this year. In a recent episode of The Nine Club podcast, professional skateboarder Jason Dill claimed that EA is prepping a mobile version of 2010’s Skate 3.
As reported by Wccftech, Dill mistakenly spilled the beans regarding a new installment in the Tony Hawk Pro Skater as well as EA’s iconic Skate franchise. In the interview, he claimed that roughly 10 months ago, he was contacted by EA who wanted to “do a mobile version of Skate 3.”
Fans of the Skate franchise have been aching for a new release for over a decade, so the news about a mobile version likely won’t go down well with the community. Launched in 2010, Skate 3 is considered to be one of the greatest skateboarding simulators out there, so it makes sense why EA would want to port the game to a more accessible platform.
Even Dill appeared to express unhappiness with the news, saying that “no one wants your stupid mobile version of Skate 3”.
“Make Skate ******* 4 already,” he said in the interview. “Just make the game and participate again. You can’t level it up to the same numbers you get on other games, you do it for a cultural thing that pays you back later.”
In the same interview, Dill also said that a new Tony Hawk Pro Skater game is due out this year. The upcoming title will supposedly feature some of his music as well. Dill says that he even has his own skateboard available in the game.
While the news is far from official confirmation, it appears to line up with some information we learned earlier this year. In January 2020, punk rock music band The Death Set accidentally revealed to the public that they had “licensed 5 new songs” for an upcoming Tony Hawk game.
