CD Projekt Red’s card battling game based on the Witcher series has been given a release date. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, the single player story-driven game, will release on PC on October 23rd, with a console release on December 4th.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales
Originally developed as a story campaign for Gwent, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales evolved into an entirely new game that heavily utilizes the original card game. Fans of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game who want more narrative elements will find Thronebreaker to be a perfect match.
In this new adventure, players will explore “never-before-seen” parts of the Witcher world from the perspective of Meve, queen of two Northern Realms, Lyria and Rivia. Players assume control of the war-veteran queen who must prepare to fight off an incoming Nilfgaardian invasion. “Thought-provoking quests featuring rich, multidimensional characters” will make fans of the Witcher series feel right at home. On top of the card battling mechanic, Thronebreaker allows players to collect resources in-order to build their army. With story elements from the main Witcher games combined with Gwent, Thronebreaker is the optimal story-driven action adventure that many players are seeking.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales launches on PC via GOG.com on October 23rd. For the console release, developers say that the game still needs a bit more work, and will be released on December 4th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
