Although The Witcher 3 is already a graphically advanced game, fans of the series have created many reshade mods that further the visual quality. A new mod that popped up on Nexus Mods earlier this week is slightly different from many other reshade mods. The Blighted Lands mod for The Witcher 3 ditches realism for a more gritty and cinematic look.
The Blighted Lands
User OKAYGUV uploaded the mod on Nexus Mods on September 25th. The Blighted Lands mod aims for “high warms and low cools” to enhance the colors of the game. Although a few areas during the night are negatively impacted by the mod, the general lighting is balanced. Here are some of the most eye-catching scenes from The Witcher 3 with The Blighted Lands mod installed:
As is evident from the gameplay screenshots, The Blighted Lands mod highlights the reds, causing scenes like sun-rises to be more visually pleasing.
The mod can be downloaded from Nexus Mods for free, and installation is very simple. Before installing The Blighted Lands, the latest version of ReShade Framwork needs have to be installed. After that, its easy as dragging and dropping the mod file into the main game folder.
While there are better ReShade mods such Enhanced and Cinematic Realism, The Blighted Lands mod may appeal to someone looking for a grittier look. As the mod is not complete, it still has many issues and is regularly updated by the creator. With toned down colors and heightened reds, The Blighted Lands mod might just be what you’re looking for.
