The much-anticipated Xbox Series X/S and PC title, The Medium has been delayed. In a Twitter announcement, polish studio Bloober confirmed that the game’s release date will now move from December 10th to January 28, 2021.
The Medium was first revealed to the public in 2012. At the given time, it was coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U. Some years later, the studio reconsidered their decision and decided to postpone the project. The decision was particularly taken because they wanted to take advantage of next-gen technology. Finally, In May 2020 the game made a solid comeback impressing the audience with its remarkable third-person psychological horror gameplay. The same year, Bloober confirmed that The Medium will now release on Xbox Series X/S and Microsoft Windows exclusively.
In today’s announcement, Bloober mentioned two particular reasons behind the delay. It writes “one made due to the COVID-19 Situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market.”
The last sentence points to Cyberpunk 2077 delay, which is now releasing on December 10, the previous release date of The Medium. Majority of developers are aware that their games won’t do good if they are released in the same spotlight as Cyberpunk 2077. For this particular reason, Grinding Gear delayed the next big expansion of Path of Exile. Rockfish Games also took similar steps and delayed Everspace 2. One of the Rockfish developers infamously said “Let’s get the cyber elephant out of the room right away.”
