Tesla’s Holiday Update Adds Steam and Apple Music in The Car

Tesla’s Holiday Update just rolled out today, and this one was for the gamers out there. Tesla Model X and S (2022) now support access to your Steam Library and allow you to play games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring from the comfort of your driving seat.

As exciting as it sounds, it should not come as a surprise, though, especially from a company like Tesla and how ambitious they are with their craft. They have done everything from self-driving capabilities to putting on a light show on your car to keep drivers entertained during long drives. Also Elon Musk in July hinted that Steam Integration for Tesla cars is on its way as the work around that is progressing well.

With the Steam (Beta) update, as explained by Tesla’s official website, you can play the Steam Deck verified games in your Steam Library right on the screen of your car without any extra hassle other than a strong internet connection to support the Steam Cloud Synchronization. The website also mentions that only the 2022 model X and S with 16 GB DDR RAM are currently supported.

Access the Steam store directly from your Tesla. Buy and play immersive games that have been verified on Steam Deck. With Steam’s cloud synchronization, resume your game from your Tesla or any Steam device. To access Steam, tap the Application Launcher > Arcade.

Note: This feature is available on Model S & X (year 2022+) with 16GB DDR memory, and requires Premium Connectivity.

The company has also released a video with Cyberpunk 2077 in action in a Tesla with a PlayStation 5 Dual Shock Controller. Although, Elon Musk on Twitter has revealed that the games running on Tesla Hardware also support keyboard and mouse, not leaving PC gamers behind.

It is fascinating to imagine something like this in the first place, but with exponential Improvements in cloud gaming, things like this happening more frequently are expected. Other than Steam (Beta), the other notable thing is the Apple Music support that is also now integrated within the Tesla OS to enjoy millions of songs and exclusive music albums on Tesla’s premium sound system.

Stream over 100 million songs and 30,000 playlists ad-free. Listen to your entire library, discover more music, and tune into live radio stations. To access Apple Music, tap the Apple Music icon in the Application Launcher. scan the QR code with your mobile device, and login with your Apple ID.

Note: A Premium Connectivity subscription is required to stream Apple Music over a cellular connection.
