Previously, Microsoft Surface devices had been affected by major issues such as disappearing GPUs, performance throttling, battery recalls and charging problems. Luckily, the impact of all these problems was not as swear as previous Surface ranges.
It’s no secret that Microsoft Surface line owners have been mainly experiencing serious hardware related issues. However, the company has been working pretty hard to resolve some common problems with the device. But many of them are concerned about the repairability of their Surface machines.
Another Issue With Surface Laptop 3 Devices
Unfortunately, there is no word from Microsoft that clarifies the replacement policy for the Surface line. Now apparently Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 3 range is affected by another hardware related issue. There are numerous reports from users that the new Surface Laptop 3’s screen has a hairline crack.
“I have the same problem. Micro crack appeared in the right hand side of my Laptop 3. No damage caused by me. There is another thread on this forum describing the same issue (can’t post the link….) from several other people…There appears to be a design and/or manufacturing defect. Customer service recommended I go to the Microsoft store for evaluation but I did not buy the extended warranty…cost to replace is $700.”
Another user who noticed the crack wrote, “Same problem here. I never ever had a cracked display in any phone of laptop the last 20 years. And with my new surface laptop 3 I had spontaneously a crack in one month. I must pay 560,- euro for a replacement within the warranty period :S I read a lot of stories on the internet from people who had the same crack in their display.”
Microsoft Needs To Prioritize Hardware Issues
It is worth mentioning that the number of reports is increasing with each passing day. This situation can significantly impact the reputation of Microsoft’s Surface range. As a quick reminder, Surface laptops are already experiencing tough competition from manufacturers such as HP, Dell, and Apple.
Microsoft should take all the necessary actions to cope up with this situation in order to remain competitive in the market. Needless to say, the company needs to address these issues as soon as possible to address user’s concerns.
