Error Code 31: Indicates a driver incompatibility where windows could not load the drivers. It doesn’t matter, if it was working fine before and not now because something on the system has definitely been updated.
Many of us do realize then when the device stops working, such as your Wi-Fi all of a sudden. And, you’re left wondering which path to take.
So i’ll list down the steps here, that will help you get the device running. In my guide, i will take an example of a Wi-Fi adapter where the driver had been incorrectly updated, and the guy didn’t knew which wireless adapter he had.
So, to find out which wireless adapter you have is to check the Device ID.
1. Go to Device Manager and Click on Network Adapters.
2. Right Click your wireless network adapter, it should be showing a yellow exclamation mark, if it’s not then the driver is working properly.
Now the one with the yellow mark is our wifi adapter, which is not working properly. So right click on it and select Properties, go to the Details tab, Choose Hardware ID’s from the Property box and copy / write down the Hardware ID at the bottom.
Now the last one is PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_0280, which will help us identify the correct adapter. A quick google search will do. Once you’ve found out the correct adapter model, download it and install it.
If like me your issue is also with the wifi then you can temporarily hook up to ethernet to download the correct drivers.
