Three years after its launch, Stardew Valley continues to receive a steady stream of updates. Update 1.4 for the farming sim will introduce a new farm map, separate wallets, and a bunch of nifty additions.
Stardew Valley developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone shared a glimpse of the upcoming update in a tweet.
“Hey everyone, just wanted to share this screenshot from the upcoming 1.4 update,” Barone writes. “It’s a big one, & this image only reveals a fraction of what’s coming. Featured here is a new farm map called Four Corners that’s perfect for the much requested “separate money” option in multiplayer.”
Currently, Stardew Valley players in a multiplayer game share the same wallet. This means that whenever a player makes a purchase, the cost is subtracted from the shared bank account. Naturally, fans called for separated bank accounts, but up until now, that option wasn’t available. While PC players have access to mods that fix the issue, console players can’t do the same. As such, the Stardew Valley community is glad to finally have this feature be a part of the main game.
Update 1.4 for the game will also add a new farm map. Apart from a teaser image of what seems to be the map’s center, there’s not a lot we know about Four Corners. The picture showcases a collection of chests in the middle, a greenhouse at the top, and a cave entrance to the left. Additionally, the new separate bank account mechanic can be seen in action. The text “Buster has earned 1,000,000g on his own” can be seen in chat box, confirming that each player is in charge of their own cash.
Barone previously stated that update 1.4 will add numerous “quality of life” features. For example, players will be able to pay Marlon to recover a lost item when they die in the mines.
The release date of update 1.4 has not yet been revealed. The new patch has been in development for a while, and is expected to release very soon.
