Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake Officially Announced for PS5 (and PC)

Update: Lucasfilm Games on Twitter has confirmed that the game will release for both PS5 and PC, but will be a timed exclusive for PS5 at launch. The game will launch for PC later down the line.

After long-running rumors that a Knights Of The Old Republic remake was in the works, today’s PlayStation Showcase finally confirms the speculation. With a bombastic opening to the show, it was revealed that Aspyr Media is working on a KOTOR remake. The teaser told us that the remake is in development for PlayStation 5, but previous rumors have suggested that the remake will arrive on PC and Xbox as well, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Aspyr has been checking off remasters of classic Star Wars games one by one, such as Star Wars: Republic Commando, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, and Star Wars Episode I: Racer. However, the KOTOR remake looks to be the biggest project Aspyr has undertaken so far as it’s a true modern remake from the ground-up for the PS5. There is no release date or additional details yet. We’ll update this article as the fog around this game clears.

Knights Of The Old Republic is arguably the most legendary Star Wars game ever made. Originally developed by BioWare and released in 2003, the game revolved around opposing the Sith Empire led by Darth Revan. The game has received a sequel developed by Obsidian, but fans have long asked for a remake of this classic. Looks like PlayStation has finally stepped up to the task and fulfilled the fans’ wishes. There is no word on whether the game will release on other platforms so far, so PlayStation is getting all the credit for now.
