Finally, it seems like we’re getting tidbits of information regarding the next Spider-Man game. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be “massive,” according to the voice actor who plays Peter Parker, in Insomniac’s highly regarded superhero franchise.
Yuri Lowenthal, who voices Peter Parker in the upcoming PlayStation 5 video game Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, recently spoke with ComicBookMovie about the sequel, spilling the beans on its scope as well as other interesting details. He said:
It’s a massive game so I’m still doing a little bit of work. I know they’re confident about their release date and Insomniac has always been good about that. Obviously, I can’t really talk about the game much, but I will tell you that it’s astonishing.”
I’m so excited for you to play it. They know they’ve got big shoes to fill from the last two games and they’ve done it. I just can’t wait for people to play it.”
The release date for Spider-Man 2 was revealed for this fall in December by developer Insomniac Games. Sony released a teaser trailer for the game in September 2021, confirming Venom as the main antagonist.
The head of franchise strategy and studio relations at Insomniac Games, Ryan Schneider, previously stated in a blog post:
We’re so thrilled to continue the journey of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their most epic single-player adventure yet, coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 consoles in 2023.”
Fans raised questions last year that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 may be delayed past its scheduled 2023 release date due to the lack of any fresh information about the game in over a year. It was said at the time that “showing a game” required a lot of effort, resources, finance, and coordination.
A PlayStation Showcase or State of Play is where you should expect to find out what happens next in Peter and Miles’ adventures. On the other hand, the next event should be about the work of third-party developers. All this suggests that an announcement is coming soon.
