It seems as if its been ages since Apple announced and or teased the AirPower. The concept was indeed quite unique and interesting. Not only did it provide a wireless charging experience, but it also did so for your entire Apple Ecosystem, with one device. This has been Apple’s dream for a long time. Having their ecosystem be embedded in households, a solution for every situation.
The problem with AirPower though was that it was pretty farfetched. The concept, it was in development for so long but reports surfaced that it would not be practical. The idea that a single slab could charge your AirPods, iPhone and Apple Watch were actually quite interesting. The interacting coil though, they caused issues. The project was most likely slabbed for some time though. At the time of the iPhone 12 launch, it was seriously believed that due to technological restrictions in the past, it was not possible but now, since they’re focusing on wireless charging, it could make a comeback. Today, a tweet from Jon Prosser, a credible source, claims something sad though.
All AirPower prototyping / testing has been removed from the schedule for 2021.
Sources doubt that it’ll ever be picked back up again.
Seems like once again, AirPower is dead.

Now, according to Jon’s sources, the company has removed the idea of the product entirely. According to the tweet, the company would not be prototyping or testing it. The product has been removed from their timeline in the 2021 schedule. The same source claims that the project may just be gone for good.
Perhaps the company would take a new direction altogether since the new MagSafe wireless charging solutions are here. We may see a portless iPhone soon and this would be the main thing supporting that. Maybe, the company chooses to bring back AirPower sometime in the coming years when the technology allows it. There are a lot of variables in these speculations but we will know for sure with time. As for now though, AirPower is dead.
