When it comes to ‘compact’ smartphones, there aren’t many manufacturers opting for the smaller designs. Sony’s Xperia mobiles are among the few smartphone lineups which still offer compact variants, and a new leak suggests that another one is about to join the ranks. The Sony Xperia XZ4 Compact seems to be a smaller version of the recently revealed Sony Xperia XZ4, featuring an outdated design with large bezels and a single rear facing camera.
The renders of the compact smartphone were shared by CompareRaja, who received them from reputable leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks). The renders of the Sony Xperia XZ4 Compact showcase an approximately 5-inch display, as opposed to the 6.5-inch display seen in its bigger brother. While the Xperia XZ4 is expected to rock triple rear cameras, its smaller counterpart only brings one rear camera to the table. If the CAD renders are to be believed, the Xperia XZ4 looks much more like a modern flagship smartphone, featuring thin bezels and top-tier specifications, including 6GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 855.
In terms of the specifications and features of the Xperia XZ4 Compact, there’s not much to go on. The device is rumored to include a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and measures in at roughly 139.9 x 66.5 x 9.3 mm. There are supposedly dual front speakers, but there’s no sign of a fingerprint scanner, at least on the front or back of the device. The phone is expected to have the fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button for security reasons, but for all we know, it might end up under the screen.
