In case you’re still in the dark, the current generation of consoles have run their course. Even the Xbox One X and the PlayStation 4 Pro appear to be obsolete to games like Red Dead Redemption 2. We are in a time when a new generation of consoles is upon us. Xbox was keen and quick to announce their upcoming device, the Xbox Series X during the Game Awards last year. Still, the Sony camp remained quiet. Now though, since today, we have seen much development.
The PlayStation 5, or PS5 (Yes this is what they’re calling it) is almost official. The company has made the website live for a couple of hours now. While it is an exciting sight for the Sony fans, it’s not exactly what they were hoping for. As pointed out by Nibel in his tweet, Sony has just established a landing page that displays the PS5 logo.

Apart from that, there is no sign of an initial render or even a teaser. The company has attached the following quote to the page.
We’ve begun to share some of the incredible features you can expect from PlayStation 5, but we’re not quite ready to fully unveil the next generation of PlayStation. Sign up below to be among the first to receive updates as we announce them, including news on the PS5 release date, PS5 price and the upcoming roster of PS5 launch games.
According to this statement, we still don’t know what may be going on. The console still remains limited to the speculations that draw its picture in our heads. While people claimed and believed that the company would announce it in February, by the looks of this post, that may not be true. It is clear that the Sony camp is lagging severely. Only a beefy product with specs that trump the Xbox Series X can actually save their face now. Perhaps we would know about the actual product by or before E3. One thing is for sure though, Sony is aiming for a Holiday Season release so they’ll have to time their promotion and the hype phase accordingly. This round goes to Microsoft and Xbox.
