Sonic Frontiers To Receive a Free Monster Hunter DLC

Sonic games have been coming out for nearly three decades now. The franchise has an enormous fan base all around the globe. The classic Sonic games started a trend in their era and made retro gaming a unique experience.

Sega has reasonably evolved the franchise with time to keep the spirit and love for the game alive. And, the next game in the lineup is Sonic Frontiers; the first true open-world Sonic game. 

Sonic Frontiers promises to offer a genuinely expansive and largely free-to-explore experience. Unfortunately, due to the game’s hype, Sega could not prevent the spoilers and leaks regarding the game on various occasions like Gamescom, TGS, and the most recent incident at EGX London.

Sonic Frontiers is less than a month away. Although fans’ experience is affected negatively due to recent leaks and rumors, they are still excited to experience the game themselves. The studio has just added to the fans’ excitement by announcing a collaboration with Monster Hunter, a fantasy-themed action RPG game series by Capcom. 

The official @sonic_hedgehog Twitter account teased the collaboration and confirmed that the DLC would be available on 14th November 2022 at 5 pm PST for free. 

Monster Hunter’s official Twitter account also tweeted about the crossover with the artwork.

According to the Japanese Sonic The Hedgehog Twitter account, the DLC will contain wearable Monster Hunter’s cosmetics and equipment, and a mini game ‘grilled meat’ will also be featured in the exclusive DLC.

“Rathalos Equipment (Hunter/Airou) that Sonic can wear will be available. In addition, you will be able to play the ‘grilled meat’ mini-game in the game.” (translated)

This is not the first time these two games are collaborating. In 2021, Monster Hunter Rise featured a Sonic-themed free DLC that offers sonic-themed clothing and cosmetics to the main Hunter characters. 

Sonic Frontiers will be released on 8th November 2022 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
