Bethesda’s Skyrim is one of the most popular RPGs, which is why community members continue to create all sorts of mods for the game. Although there are many mods out there which update and enhance the graphics, it can be argued that the Skyrim world can look very bland at times. Project Rainforest LE is a “climate and overhaul” mod for the Legendary Edition of Skyrim that transforms it into a lush, tropical landscape.
Uploaded to Nexus Mods last month, the Project Rainforest mod changes the entire world of Skyrim as well as the DLC locations. The mod aims to alter the washed out look of the world without the clutter of a full overhaul mod.
Aside from the addition of updated visual assets such as lily pads and other tropical mods, Project Rainforest brings with it all new jungle-themed sound effects. The pre-existing icy interiors, icicles, and tundra sound effects have been replaced with ones that better fit the rainforest theme of the mod. The mod also works around technical issues, such as stray collision cubes, that come up when adding new trees and other natural objects.
An interesting thing to note is that Project Rainforest adds new attire for the Skaal villagers and hunters of Skyrim. Instead of their usual thicker clothes, the residents of Skyrim can be seen donning lighter articles of clothing, such as leather and scaled armor.
Project Rainforest LE creator sa547 says that a Skyrim Special Edition version is in the works, and will be released “soon”. The mod has “minimal” impact on performance, but you are free to tweak the settings, such as grass density, to your liking.
