VERDICT:The Sennheiser HD 280 PRO are one of the best budget headphones available in the market. They have great build quality, offer nice and comfortable paddings and also sound fairly good. The coiled cable on the headphones can be a bit of pain as they can make the headphones heavy after some usage. Due to the heaviness of the headphones, these are only suited if you are in a seated environment and not suitable if you want to take the headphones with you while going on a walk. Although if you are someone who works in a seated environment then these headphones might be the perfect one for you

Sennheiser is a name that is undoubtedly among the most known brands in the market. Especially when it comes to headphones. Sennheiser produces elite and top of the line headphones having a bunch of modern features in them. Even though the headphones that Sennheiser produces are top notch but they also come in with a higher price tag but fortunately today we have a product from Sennheiser that doesn’t cost you a fortune and still has some quality features in it. Presenting you the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO.

The first look of the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO

The Sennheiser HD 280 PRO comes in just under 100$ and also have some professional features like Noise cancellation, Folding Earcups. Great sound quality and good build quality. These headphones are Over the ear headphones and also feel very comfortable when using. Some people still can’t believe that the headphones are under 100$ but their reason is justified as Sennheiser’s headphones don’t usually come at this price range. These headphones are sure to attract a lot of people’s attention.

Design

Minimal Design

Design wise the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO aren’t stylish by any means but they are not ugly either. The design is a very simple and minimalistic design and nothing too fancy. The headphones have an Over the ear design. There is “Sennheiser HD 280 PRO” written on both of the ear cups. The headphones also have a large coiled cable that is attached to the ear cup. The ear cups have a soft synthetic leather padding which can also be seen on the headband too. The padding feels awesome and very comfortable. The padding is very durable unlike most of the paddings seen on headphones so you don’t have to worry about the leather padding getting torn off or something. The ear cups are fairly large so people with big ears don’t have to worry about anything as their ears can also fit easily inside the ear cups. The ear cups are attached to the headband with a hinge and swivel design, what it does is that it adds more to the flexibility of the headband and the ear cups.

The ear cups can be folded inside so they take up lesser space and can be taken anywhere. The padding on the ear cups is fairly tight so it can fit almost all types of heads in it as well as the tightness makes the headphones stay in one place. The tightness also helps in the noise isolation as the ear cups are tight so the sound leakage is pretty close to none and you can keep on enjoying the music without disturbing others and also by being undisturbed by others. The ear cups are perfect for you if you like to go out on cold chilly days and listen to songs, as the ear cups become a little warm after some time and can give u a more comfortable feeling depending on the weather.

The headphones are fairly heavy because of the heavy coil cable that is attached to it. The heavy coiled cable can be a letdown for some users. The coiled cable definitely adds to the overall mass of the headphones thus resulting in the headphones feeling heavy at times. But the overall comfort is great with these headphones.

Sturdy build quality

Build Quality

The build quality of the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO is great. The headphones are made up of black plastic that at first might feel a little weak but there is nothing to worry about as the plastic of which the headphones are made up is of top quality. The plastic is a dense plastic making the HD 280 PRO a very durable and tough headset. The headphones are not fragile by any means and can take some collisions with the floor too since it is made up of high-quality plastic. As the headphones are made up of thick plastic so it makes the ear cups and headband a little bulkier and giving them an overall thicker look, which might look like you are wearing a helmet or something but overall the build quality of this headset is great and it feels very sturdy. It surely doesn’t feel like a 100$ headset.

Sound Quality

When shopping for headphones everyone has one question in mind.” What does the bass sound like in the headphones?” Well to answer that question I would say that the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO does a pretty good job handling the bass. Which is going to be a plus point for most of the music lovers. The HD 280 PRO has a solid bass which goes down to 10 Hertz. This gives the sub bass a natural sound while also making it prominent. But that being said the bass is not Studio quality but it gets the job done, considering that the headphones are not the top of the line headphones and are just under 100 dollars. The high and the mids on the headphones sound very nice and crisp, the sound is overall balanced and is suited for listening to almost every genre of music.

Accurate Sound Quality

The nice mids on this headset can be quite useful when you are mixing and mastering especially vocals. The natural sound that these headphones give is known to be its main selling point. The treble on these headphones does not sound very good though. The sound was known to deviate a little bit when it came to the lower frequencies. But even here the higher frequencies had a very crisp sound to them. The tight ear cups can prove really useful in the noise cancellation. The tightness helps to make sure that you don’t hear the outside noise while also ensuring that the sound is not leaking from your headphones. So you can wear these headphones to a library without worrying that your sound could be disturbing someone. Overall the sound quality of the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO was very good for a headset that is under 100 dollars. Although if you are looking for something that gives a studio quality sound then these headphones might not be for you.

Comfort

Soft ear-padding makes the dream work!

When it comes to the reviews of headphones, users are worried about the comfort of the headphones and will the headphones give a comfortable experience or not. Well as far as comfort is concerned then Sennheiser HD 280 PRO doesn’t disappoint. The HD 280 PRO features synthetic leather-like soft padding on both the ear cups and the headband. The padding is super comfortable and also has lots of room for your head as well as the air inside. The headband feels exceptionally comfortable even after long usage. The padding on the ear cups might get a little wet after long usage. The only downside is that the ear cups get a little warm after some time which can be an uncomfortable experience for some users but it can also turn out to be a good experience in cold days. Overall the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO feel very comfortable.

User Needs

These headphones can be perfect for you if you are a professional looking to do audio work and can also be quite useful when you want to work in a noisy environment as their noise isolation feature helps prevent the outside sound to interrupt your work. These headphones can also be used in gaming as they are comfortable and also the 3.5mm jack helps to connect to most of the devices. The compact design of the headphones also proves useful when you are traveling and want to take the headphones with you.

The headphones are very much suited to anyone who is going to be sitting somewhere and whether it is listening to songs or doing your work in peace. The headphones can pull a great job doing both of these.

Conclusion

Overall the Sennheiser HD 280 PRO is a very good choice. Although the headphones aren’t very good looking the build quality of the headphones is very good, the sound quality of these headphones is also exceptionally good, the headphones are comfortable as well and also don’t cost a fortune. The headphones are highly recommended if you are someone who sits in an environment doing whatever you like. Whether it is sitting in a library and listening to lectures or sitting in your home chilling while listening to your favorite songs. The noise isolation on these headphones also helps to perform some field work. The heavy coiled cable although makes the headphones heavy after some time and these feel heavy on the ear. Because of the added weight of the coiled cable, these headphones are not really recommended if you want to go on a walk and listen to some songs on your way there. You should look for some other headphones if that is going to be your main purpose. But other than that the headphones are really well for a headset that costs 100 dollars. It is definitely one of the best headphones under a hundred buck.
