New Cosmetics

This year, Overwatch will be getting an assortment of cosmetics which include skins, sprays and dance emotes. There will be a total of 50 new cosmetic items which include eight new legendary skins and three new epic skins. Just like the previous anniversary event, past skins and cosmetic items will be available to purchase using credits during the event. Seasonal brawls from past events like Lucioball and Yeti Hunt will also make a return.

New Deathmatch Map

The anniversary update will add a competitive style Deathmatch game mode. This mode will feature a ranking system complete with competitive points, skill tiers, leaderboards and ranks. Petra, a new map exclusive to Deathmatch, will be added to the deathmatch map rotation.

Loot Boxes

The new cosmetics, as well as previous seasonal ones, can be unlocked by opening the new Anniversary loot boxes. During the event, logging in at least once will grant players a free Legendary Anniversary loot box which contains at least one legendary item. Furthermore, purchasing the 50 loot box bundle will give you a bonus Legendary Anniversary loot box.

Free Weekend

The second Overwatch anniversary event lines up with the free weekend which is scheduled to kick off next week. The free weekend will run from May 25th to May 28th and will not require Playstation Plus for PS4 players.

Overwatch Legendary Edition
