Samsung’s latest Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ flagship smartphones are set to begin shipping in the US and several other markets across the globe starting March 8. If you have already pre-ordered one or are planning to purchase one of the two new Galaxy S10 models soon, Samsung has some good news for you.
In a notice posted on the company’s community website, Samsung has confirmed that all Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ smartphones will be shipped with a screen protector pre-applied. The company says it made the decision to increase overall customer experiences with the improved screen durability and to ensure full functionality of the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the two models. The Samsung Galaxy S10e, however, will not come with a pre-installed screen protector.
Furthermore, Samsung recommends that you purchase Samsung branded screen protectors as a replacement as it cannot guarantee that the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor will work as intended when using third-party screen protectors made of traditional glass and polyurethane materials. In the US, the Samsung branded replacement screen protector for all Galaxy S10 variants will be available for $29.99.
Samsung Galaxy S10 starts at $899.99 in the US, while the bigger Galaxy S10+ model starts at $999.99. The two models are now available for pre-order and will hit stores across the country starting March 8. Apart from the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, the new Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ offer quite a few other major upgrades compared to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 has a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display with Quad HD+ resolution HDR10+ support, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Samsung Galaxy S10+ sports a larger 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with similar characteristics. Both models feature a 12MP + 12MP + 16MP triple camera setup at the rear. For selfies, the Galaxy S10 has a single 10MP snapper with 4K video recording while the Galaxy S10+ offers 10MP + 8MP dual-selfie cameras. Both phones come with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, Dolby Atmos, USB 3.1 Type-C port, and reverse wireless charging capability.
