Samsung usually starts off the new year with their new line up of flagships. The company takes it upon itself to set a good precedent for all the companies that are to follow. Rivaling mainly to the Pixel and iPhone (same price bracket), Samsung has come a long way in making its products stand out. At the moment, Samsung screens are setting industry standards. Companies like Apple get their panels from Samsung too.
Perhaps in this new day and age, where we move towards bezel-less displays, manufacturers come up with new innovations. Apple introduced the famous notch in order to fit their camera and sensors. Other companies like OnePlus opted for the teardrop style of Notch. The entire focus has been to achieve the best screen to body ratio possible. This feat, though, comes with a sacrifice. More often than not, manufacturers have to fit in sensors and the screen ribbon in an unorthodox way. This results in amenities like the headphone jack or a bigger battery to be compromised. While this is the case, Samsung has been probably the only giant in the market to not be a part of the status quo. It is true that while companies push users towards Notches, Samsung has yet to introduce it in its devices.
Samsung’s 2019 Flagships
Rumors have been floating whether Samsung would ditch the headphone jack in 2019. It would not come as a shock though, considering how many other players in the market have done so. While it would be the case, it most certainly will be hilarious given the fact that Samsung ridiculed Apple for the same move, back in 2016.
While rumors continue to float around, a recent leak by Evan Blass showed the promotional banner for the S10 Plus. It shows the device in a beautiful manner while supporting a headphone jack. The image can be seen below
As seen, the phone supports many of the features which have been leaked in the months leading up to the event. The form factor seems to be familiar while the camera cut out and the slimmer bezels are definitely something new.
What to make of this?
While the poster does seem quite legitimate, it still cannot be said with utmost certainty that it is. There have been many occasions where leaks have been proven to be completely off. For now, though, users and readers will have to wait for the week to come. Samsung is set to have its event where it would announce its flagships, the S10 series, for the year 2019. Given the rumors, if Samsung does go for the headphone jack, the screen, the predicted battery, and the different variants, we could be looking at a definitive industry leader. A small request though, “Dear Samsung, please keep the prices right!”.
