Apple was the first smartphone manufacturer to eliminate the headphone port from the iPhone. These were the iPhone 7 series of devices. Since then, the company has taken out the headphones from the box as well. This time around, in 2020, the company just took out the charging brick from the box as well. As of now, the iPhone 12 series comes with just the phone and the cable. Now, while a lot of people ridiculed the company over this, Xiaomi soon followed them with the Mi 11 series. The CEO, in December, confirmed that they would be excluding the charger from the box as well. Then, in between all of this, we got reports that the Samsung may be doing the same with its S21 lineup. Well, that is the case here in the report from WinFuture.
According to the report, there are images that have surfaced which show the “What’s in the box” slide of the phones. According to the image above, the company states that inside the box, users would find a USB-C charging cable, the phone itself and a sim ejector tool. That’s it. No wall adapter for the S21 lineup. Now, this is true for most countries but there are certain exceptions in Europe which make it compulsory for companies to add this accessory if they wish to distribute and sell these devices.
Finally, we come to why. Well, this business model makes sense. You create a need and essentially fulfil it for an additional cost. Now, Samsung would introduce its charging solutions as well. Reports are that they are working on a wireless charging solution, similar to Apple’s puck style MagSafe charger. Now let’s see where this pans out to be.
